Security
Built to protect children's records.
Fostering records are some of the most sensitive data there is. Here is how Fostem looks after them, in plain English.
How it works today
UK data hosting
Your data is stored in the UK, in a London data centre region.
Agencies kept apart
Row-level security means one agency can never see another agency's data. Not by accident, not by a bug in a screen.
Rules enforced in the database
Who can see and change what is checked by the database itself, on every request. It does not rely on the app hiding buttons.
Safer sign-in
People sign in with one-time email links, so there are no passwords to reuse or forget. Sign-in is ready for multi-factor authentication.
Full audit log
Every important action is recorded: who did it and when. The log is tamper-proof and cannot be edited.
Records that don't change
Logs lock when they are submitted. Any later change is added as a note, so the original is always kept.
A clear trail, every time.
When an inspector, a placing authority or your own team asks what happened, the answer is there. Each step is recorded, in order.

Our commitments
- Your data stays in the UK.
